Using a Laptop (Problems)

by Rick Blaine, Friday, September 30, 2011, 15:09 (4947 days ago)

In common with many other laptops, mine has no numerical pad on the right of the keyboard. This means I am unable to flip the board in the tactical puzzles.
In a different topic Tony mentioned possible changes to the system. Could he change the key for board flipping to something not on the numerical pad?

I am a new member and my first impressions are very favourable but there's just this little niggle. Thanks. :-)

Using a Laptop

I'm afraid I can't change the key combination for flipping the board without delving into the bowels of the original programming (which wasn't written by me, I should add).
On my laptops I can flip the board, however, as certain normal keys double for the Numeric keyboard (and are shown in blue). So, for my Samsung I just need to press 'Fn + F11' (to put the keyboard on) then '0' each time I want to flip the board.
Can you check your laptop's documentation to see if you don't have a similar possibility?

Thanks for the prompt advice. It's a new (and my first) laptop made by Acer and the details were hidden away in a manual on the hard drive. I am used to paper manuals. The Fn and F11 keys work and I can flip the board. Thanks again.

The site is great!:-)
