Glenn Flear's quiz is a great idea. I can't say I fully worked out the answers and sometimes after a great deal of thought eventually went on instinct a couple of times but I was pleased to get an average club player's result of 79% which probably is on the slightly flattering side of reality. Or perhaps the work I am putting in really is bearing results. Wish it was shown in the gymn exercises however. Anyway- it was fun and thought provoking and what's even better is that I can play through all the solutions on Fritz or Chessbase. it's the kind of thing that makes the subscription worthwhile as I get to keep something of use to go over and over again with.

Once more- great idea. Are we getting more of this kind of thing?

I found it difficult putting it into chessbase, but we fiddled around a bit & suddenly it came up! So I'm afraid I can't tell you how I got it & hope that I'll find it again next month.
However, I was pleased that i got the endgame puzzles right! It's nice to get something right! On the other hand, I'm here to learn & so they were rather too easy! I noticed that some of the tactics were also angeled at endgames, which is nice.
What I'm trying to say is that a site teaching chess ought to teach A LOT OF ENDGAME TECHNIQUE!
I don't know if Tony is reading our gramblings & suggestions or if we're just talking amongst ourselves (the blind leading the blind) & who is the moderator?
I do know that this is a new site & yous keep improving it, which is great. Since we're all guineapigs, could we get an extra few month at the end of our first year?
all the best

I think there may be a problem with the free version of ChessBase and file names over 8 characters long. We will make sure that all the CBV files have shorter names from now on to avoid this problem.
