Salov - Anand (Isolani)

Hi all, that game, shown by Daniel King is sooo weird! At first Anand falls behind in development & Daniel praises this, then when Anand has succeeded in fixing his opponent's isolated d pawn, he allows him to axchange it!
I must be awfully daft, because I didn't see any advantage in that. Later on it seems to me that salov could have tried to swap Qs many times to draw the game.
What do yous think?
