time bonus worthwhile or destructive???!! (Openings)

by juggernaut, Friday, April 08, 2005, 07:35 (7557 days ago)

Hey all,

I am a subscriber as well to this fab site. I notice that there is a time bonus added if you complete all the solutions in the time alloted. I wonder if it is worthwhile doing this because it seems to reward quick play not necessarily correct play, this could lead to quick blunders if people aren't careful, does anyone agree:-| hmmm..

I agree with your point. I honestly don't see the need for a bonus based on speed. If anything you should get rewarded for getting a perfect score.

I can see the point if you get the answers correct in the allotted time. We should be training ourselves to see combinations quickly.:-)

I e-mailed Support about this. I was, rightly I think, advised to ignore the clock to start with and concentrate on just getting the solutions and analysing the positions properly. The clock is there to speed you up, but only when you're ready.

I was told there is a penalty for being slow. What is the penalty?

No idea! Nothing that I can see, aside from not gaining the 'bonus' points. I'm sure they don't cancel your membership or anything...
