New look! (News)

by Tony Kosten ⌂, France, Tuesday, April 25, 2006, 23:51 (6934 days ago)

Hi everyone, I've managed to recover all the instructive material (and have some new stuff that I am currently adding) and have had to rearrange the left-hand navigation bar to fit it in.
I have also moved the Forum link to the top as it seemed more logical there -but I guess you have already discovered that or else you wouldn't have got this far ... ! Sorry about any disorientation! :-)

You can't please all of the people all of the time, but I am sure I am not alone in conveying how nice it is to finally have someone at the helm here who is listening and trying to make reasonable requests a reality. That is really all most were asking for the past year is to feel like a customer.

Without knowing more about the guts of this site I don't know how big a deal this is to implement, but is there any chance of getting the member menu to be 'aware' of the last time you logged in and display the 'new' banner as appropriate? That way you would only see things that genuinely were new.

A bit like on some Forums I guess? Seems quite complicated to me but I will ask an expert and see.
Would it help if there was a 'last updated on ...' as on ChessPublishing?

That would probably be an easier way to accomplish the same thing. The more 'automated' solution would require a programmer. A 'last updated on' just requires a few extra keystrokes.

I have started adding a 'Last Updated ...' to new stuff on the 'Members Home' page, beginning with the Unlock Your Genius solution. Is it any better? :-)

Yes, that is going to be great.

We are having some of the pages redesigned over the next few days, which should result in a cleaner look, so don't be too surprised when everything looks somehow different. :-)
