There also appears to be a mistake in the file. I believe line 3 is supposed to be:

.plays white

But it is not. As a result the very first move 1.c4 (c2c4) does not properly display on the board.

I kept wondering why I was doing so horrible on this one. I bet I do marginally better now ;)

When I click to get the game it just opens it in another page as text...can anyone advise on how to get the game into the programme?

You have to save the *.hgc file to your hard disc first, then open the program then open the file. :-)
