Exercises (General)

by Parsdeclined @, Herts UK, Sunday, April 17, 2005, 22:41 (7306 days ago) @ Don Lester

? ? Only a small gripe. When completing the exercises I would like to be
? able
? ? to rotate the board, so that if it is black to play I am looking at the
? ? problem from the black side of the board. I know that it's possible
? when
? ? reviewing the solutions. How about it guys. Can it be done?
? ? P.S. Really enjoying the site so far thx. Keep it up! :-D
?
? I initially thought I had that same gripe too, but I later decided I liked
? it better this way. The way I figured it was that it would be helping not
? only to find the best moves vs my opponent, but by not being able to
? rotate the board it helps me look at the perspective of watching for
? attacks against me.

I know what you mean Don but the exercises are set up with a view to you playing them not finding a defense against them. If the game is already at the stage that black has a 'winning' move then as white we would have already played a 'bad' moved that put us in that position. We are being asked to find a move as the black player and in that respect I want to see the board from that perspective.
