ChessBase is a such powerful instrument to study chess that will be useful at any time .Probably too much for beginners but otherwise is amazing.
The problem here is not the lack of material to improve your chess knowledge
but the excess of it.The market is pushing us to buy more and more making new material easily available and cheaper than ever but it is a terrible distractor.
This site has actually everything, all the knowledge needed it is here if we take full advantage of it.I would stick with it is more than enough.
Of course playing serious chess with slightly stronger opponents on a regular basis is the other essential thing.
A little story to end this correspondence a good friend of mine used to buy a new book for each half or full point he would get at each congress he played in. Along the years, he was an active player, he had accumulated one of the most impressive chess library you could wish to have but is grading did not improve.
