Trouble finding "my" openings (Openings)

I would have thought that simply doing lots of tactical exercises would help a lot with question 1, and the Your Move exercises, too. Otherwise there are a few books around that claim to deal with Attacking, but I've never read any of them myself.
Concerning your opening repertoire, if you want to avoid having pawns thrown at your king then you could a lot worse than switch to 1...e5. I suggest you post on the www.chesspub.com Forum, as this specialises on openings, and see what the Members suggest.
